In accordance with the policies adopted by ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, the contact info a domain name is registered with must be correct and up to date at all times. What’s more, this info is freely visible on WHOIS lookup websites and while this may be OK for companies, it may not be very acceptable for individuals, because anyone can view their names and their personal email and street addresses, especially in times when identity theft isn’t that unusual. That’s why domain registrars have launched a service that hides the details of their clients without altering them. The service is called Whois Privacy Protection. If it’s enabled, people will see the details of the registrar, not the domain owner’s, if they make a WHOIS search. The Whois Privacy Protection service is supported by all generic TLD extensions, but it’s still not possible to conceal your private details with certain country-code extensions.

Whois Privacy Protection in Cloud Hosting

Activating the Whois Privacy Protection service for any domain registered with us is really easy if you have a cloud hosting plan. You can do this through the exact same Hepsia Control Panel, via which you administer the hosting account – you’ll just have to visit the Registered Domains section where all your domain names will be listed and to click on the “Whois Privacy Protection” icon, which will be available for each domain that supports the Whois Privacy Protection service. This is also the place where you can renew the Whois Privacy Protection service or deactivate it altogether – in case you want to transfer a given domain to a different registrar company. With the Whois Privacy Protection service, you can conceal your personal or corporate contact details with just a few mouse clicks and stop worrying that your details might be obtained by unauthenticated people.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you wish to hide the contact details associated with your domain name and you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, you’ll be able to activate our Whois Privacy Protection service either during the signup process or at any time afterwards via our Hepsia Control Panel. This service is optional and can be enabled with a couple of clicks from the Registered Domains section of the Control Panel where all the domain names that you have registered with our company will be listed in alphabetical order. You can activate Whois Privacy Protection for any of the top-level domain name extensions that support the service by simply clicking on the “Whois Privacy Protection” logo on the right-hand side of each domain name. In the same way, you can also renew the service or shut it off – in case you wish to transfer a domain name to some other domain name registrar and you need the actual email address associated with the domain to be visible.
