The NS, or Name Server records of a domain name, indicate which servers manage the Domain Name System (DNS) records for it. Setting the name servers of a particular hosting provider for your domain address is the most convenient way to direct it to their system and all its sub-records will be taken care of on their end. This includes A (the IP address of the server/website), MX (mail server), TXT (free text), SRV (services), CNAME (forwarding), and so on, if you need to change any of these records, you'll be able to do it via their system. Put simply, the NS records of a domain name point out the DNS servers which are authoritative for it, so when you try to open a web address, the DNS servers are contacted to retrieve the DNS records of the domain you are trying to reach. That way the web site you will see will be retrieved from the right location. The name servers typically have a prefix “ns” or “dns” and each domain has at least two NS records. There is absolutely no sensible difference between the two prefixes, so which one a web hosting provider will use depends exclusively on their preference.

NS Records in Cloud Hosting

When you use a cloud hosting plan from our company and you include a new domain name in the account or transfer an existing one from another company, you are going to be able to handle its NS records easily through the Hepsia hosting Control Panel, offered with all shared accounts. You'll be able to change the current name servers or enter additional ones for a single domain name or even for many domains simultaneously with several mouse clicks. This is done using the feature-rich Domain Manager tool that is a part of Hepsia and the user-friendly interface is going to make it simple to handle your domain address even if it is the first you have ever registered. It takes simply a mouse click to see what name servers a domain uses at the moment or if they are the correct ones to direct a domain name to the hosting space on our end and with only a couple of clicks more you'll even be able to register private name servers for any one of the domain names that you own. For the latter option you can use the IP addresses of each company that you would like the new NS records to point to.

NS Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

The name servers for any domain that is registered through our company could be changed with no more than a few mouse clicks from the advanced, albeit easy-to-use Hepsia CP that is included with all semi-dedicated server plans. It's just as simple to view the current NS records for a specific domain address and to determine if they're the ones that are required for the domain address to be directed to your hosting account. The Domain Manager tool, which is a part of Hepsia, is user-friendly enough to allow you to manage any domain name effortlessly even if you haven't dealt with such matters before. If you would like, you can even register private name servers ns1.your-domain.com and ns2.your-domain.com and use them not just for the domain name under which they're set up, but also for any other domain that you would like to host in the exact same account. This option is very handy when you have clients of your own and you wish their websites to use your own name servers in lieu of our default ones. The service is available totally free.
